Hyjal, hacking, and more!August 20, 2008, 1:16 pm

We have been lazy to update, so here it is!  We've cleared Mount Hyjal a few times now and are working our way through Black Temple with relative ease.  We would have been more than finished with Black Temple as well, but a certain incident put a crimp in our style and combined with vacation for a few left us with 1 tank for the past couple weeks, making both Gurtogg and Mother essentially impossible.  Oh well, no harm done and we're mostly back on track now.  We anticipate killing Illidan this week or next, depending on how lazy we are getting hearts, (we've been slacking big time on it) and potentially disbanding over the inevitable bickering from a warglaive dropping.  The money shots from Hyjal:

We are also up to Gurtogg Bloodboil in Black Temple, but we'll save those screenshots until we clear the instance fully.  We do anticipate beginning Sunwell shortly and we still believe our roster has room to improve, so we are continuing to recruit all classes and most likely will do so until the expansion arrives.  The following classes, however, are of immediate importance:

  • Rogue
  • Resto Shaman
  • Prot Paladin
  • Ret Paladin
  • Holy Paladin
  • Feral Druid
  • Resto Druid
  • Hunter
  • Shadow Priest

We are also now requiring tier 5 or equivalant gear and higher.  This will most likely be our last real recruitment push before requiring tier 6 gear capable of handling Sunwell, so if you have been looking for an opportunity and gear has been holding you back, apply now before it is too late.  We still expect a very high level of skill and will remove you if you prove to be a poor player.  We also are looking for dedication and people interested in playing well into the next expansion, so please refrain from applying if you plan to quit after killing Kil'Jaeden.  Personality will always be an important factor in our decision making as well, so please be sure this is a place you feel you would fit well into before investing your time in us.

We will leave you with these words of wisdom from Backfire, for any of you with hot dates in the near future:

Tier 6? I suppose, but only if we cuddle after.August 1, 2008, 12:47 am

The collective groan that went up when it was announced "those not in the raid head to Tanaris to summon" was a familiar sound indeed.  Mount Hyjal was every bit as boring and tedius as we remember it, but  30 minutes and 0 wipes later, this was the result (despite our still putrid gear):

We have been slowed the last few days thanks to our raid leader being incapacitated, but now that he is back we expect to pick up the pace through the rest of the week.  Let's face it, neither Mount Hyjal nor Black Temple is overly difficult.  The general requirements needed to clear either are a pulse, 2 hands, 1 working eye, a halfway functional brain, and an I.Q. greater than that Warren from 'There's Something About Mary" (look it up.  Here's a hint- no, we haven't seen his baseball).  In other words they aren't very stringent.  Since we've already proven we possess all of those requirements (except for Backfiredeux, who typically raids with 1 hand.  Feel free to interpet that in any way you choose), so we fully expect progress to come swiftly.

We are still recruiting non-terrible, skilled, personable, humerous, reliable, and generally enjoyable players of all classes and specs.  We are currently beginning to expect a bit more gear from any recruit, although are still willing to consider terribly geared players that are able to impress us.  We will continue to recruit all classes and specs until our guild is as strong as possible, but the following are currently are biggest needs:

  • Resto druid
  • Feral druid
  • Holy priest
  • Shadow priest
  • Resto shaman
  • Warlock
  • Mage

Oh, hello raiding. Geez-oh-flip we've missed you!July 28, 2008, 1:03 am

We haven't officially started raiding 25 mans yet, but we used this week to "mess around" a bit and see how things went.  Despite not having 25 people in the raid for some encounters, I'd say things went pretty well, as we cleared all tier 4 and tier 5 content:

In case anyone is wondering, yes the majority of us did just hit 70, with little to no time to gear up.  The entirety of our raid is covered in greens, with many having 3 or more.  Hell, one of our hunters went from a level 63 green bow to the Vashj bow.  We'd like to say it is our great play and skill carrying us despite our gear, but in reality it's most likely pure luck.  Oh well, we'll take it however we can get it.  This is just a sampling of the gear our tank was using while he tanked Vashj:

We are still currently recruiting all classes and specs as we prepare to break into tier 6 content, however we are putting a particular emphasis on the following:

  • Holy priest
  • Shadow priest
  • Hunter
  • Mage (extremely high need)
  • Resto shaman
  • Resto druid

Other classes and specs are certainly encouraged to apply, as we are always on the lookout for exceptional players and personalities, but the above list is what we truly need at the current time to have balanced and successful raids.  This will most likely be our last round of recruiting with no gear restrictions in place, so if you are a top level player who simply has been looking for the right opportunity to showcase it, apply before it is too late.  We are still only looking for terrible players who die to every fucking thing imaginable great players with exceptional skill, capable of pushing the cutting edge of raid content (whenever our slow asses get back there) and being an asset that improves our raid, not a slacker who holds us back.  It is also important that you have a laid back, humorous personality that matches ours and actually have interests outside of this game that you are capable of conversing about when we get bored.  Please be sure to put time and effort in on your application.  The more detailed and thorough you are the better.  We only take the people who go above and beyond 1 sentence repsonses seriously, as we are hoping to gleam a bit of your personality before we recruit you.

Why should you apply, you may be asking?  Well besides the fact that we raid at an extremely high level while keeping some perspective and realizing this is just a game, you could partake in thought provoking and highly intelligent conversations such as these:

Oh, before we forget, WTB Hearts of Darkness, PST!

We're baaaaaaaaack...and we're recruiting!July 16, 2008, 10:47 pm

Proving that all good things do NOT have to come to an end, we are back.  After taking some time off and playing casually for a bit, we have decided to resume raiding together once again.  We rerolled on Laughing Skull PvP as horde, and have leveled up a few dozen times.  Here are some highlights of what we have been up to so far:

We have a solid group of both veteran Gimped members and guild friends with experience through Kil'Jaeden, but our roster is not yet where we would like it to be.  To that end, we are currently recruiting all classes/specs to help us begin 25 man raiding, and will continue to do so until we feel our guild is as strong as possible.  However, the following are areas of greater need:

  • Warlock
  • Hunter
  • Mage
  • Prot paladin
  • Holy paladin
  • Ret paladin
  • Loot whores
  • Resto druid
  • Balanced druid
  • Resto shaman
  • Emo fucks
  • Arms warrior
  • Holy priest
  • Shadow priest
  • Rogue

We are now accepting level 70 applicants only!  For the time being, there are no gear requirements, as we prefer to recruit great players rather than just geared ones.  If you are a top level player and have simply been unable to showcase your talents for whatever reason, our terrible skilled group may be just what the doctor ordered.  Some of you may question whether you are skilled enough, so here is a quick checklist to aid you.  If the following things describe you as a player, then there is a good chance your play would fit in well here:

  • Avoids dying to ports on Mother Shahraz
  • Kills your ghosts on Teron Gorefiend with plenty of time to spare
  • Does not miss portals on Kalecgos
  • Avoids dying to encapsulate damage on Felmyst
  • Somehow has never needed to use lag as an excuse for dying to anything on Archimonde, period

We are looking for personable, skilled players who want to raid at the cutting edge, while treating the game like a job and raiding 50 hours a week keeping the game in its proper perspective.  We put an emphasis on efficient use of time while raiding, rather than simply throwing mass hours at encounters.  The majority of our members are based on the west coast, so please be aware that we raid rather late for EST and CST folk (our raids end at 1 AM CST and 2 AM EST respectively).  Our new and improved raid schedule is as follows (all times are PST):

  • Monday- Off
  • Tuesday- 7 PM to 11 PM
  • Wednesday- 7 PM to 11 PM
  • Thursday- 7 PM to 11 PM
  • Friday- Off
  • Saturday- 4 PM to 8 PM
  • Sunday- 7 PM to 11 PM

While we understand the need for a high level of skill, we are also very interested in the personality of recruits.  Unlike the mentality of many other high end guilds, we actually enjoy each other's company and prefer if our vent conversations actually touch on subjects other than WoW!  We like talkative and humorous people, we just prefer that they avoid the rampant "nerdism" that is far too common with many people in this game.  Here is a brief sample of some of the perverted and horribly inappropriate conversation witty banter that can occur:

If you are interested, head over to the apply section and review the do's and dont's (or click here) .  If you feel you have both the skill and personality we are looking for, submit a detailed, intelligently written and well thought out application.  If you prefer to keep your application private, copy/paste the format and PM your responses to Herm via our forums.  If we are interested in speaking with you further, we will contact you using one or more of the methods listed in your application.
